This coming week at work is going to be kind of unusual considering I do not currently work in a music-related field. I am a singer (ya think? I live in Nashville, after all!) and used to do some background, demo, and live gigs in town a lot more than I do now. Motherhood has taken priority out of necessity.
However, I have been blessed to be able to use my voice to touch lives right where I work. I can't even begin to describe how happy I am to have an outlet for my singing bug. Tomorrow, we are having an employee picnic, and I have been asked to perform during the afternoon for our associates. That oughta be a blast.
Then, next week I have been honored to be selected to go to Washington DC to perform for the Executive Teams from around the country for the hospital system I work for. I am really stoked about this opportunity and am beyond thankful for it.
I am excited to be able to do something more than the usual daily grind at work. It is things like this that give me that extra shot in the arm to keep pressing on when things get really tough.
I will report back on how it all goes...
P.S. On this day I raise a glass for my Daddy who would have been 70 (!) years old today.

Whatcha gonna sing, Geege?? You have such a great voice... I remember you singing at Jill's wedding... gave me chill bumps!!
A singer, you think??? I think so, remember lots of it! (AND much backgrounding)! Bet your Daddy was proud, so good luck in Washington!
Ginger,
I'm glad you changed the photo to one that looks more like you! It really does! How was the Picnic?
I agree on the photo...the red-ey fix made my eyes look black! LOL
The picnic went well! It was out in one of our big parking lots, and was a lot of fun!
I sang "Jesus, Take The Wheel" (Carrie Underwood), and "I Will Always Love You" (the Whitney version). :-)
Oh my goodness! "I will always love you" is STILL GOING, huh? :O
I hadn't heard the other song much at all!
You should be here in Miami tonight for the Grand Opening of the "Carnival Center for the Performing Arts", you know! It's really something pretty special, I think! And you know some of the people who will be there!!!
Oooh, would you be referring to my beloved Barry Gibb???? :-)
You KNOW he will be, but lots of others, too! Now you see, you SHOULD be here!
Okay, guess I wrote enough, but wish you could be here, you know!!!
That is awesome! I'd love to hear you sing. You know there is always a need for entertainment at bunco. ;)
Have fun in Washington D. C., but watch out for them Washingtonians! ha ha
